Basic Search Help Page

Text terms

Enter a word or phrase you wish to search for in the records. Right truncation can be acheived by adding a * to the end of the word. For example, region* will find region, regions and regional etc. The terms are not case sensitive. That is, Regions will find regions and REGIONS etc.

You can build a compilcated search by entering values into the three different text areas. If more than one text area is used then the search will use an AND between the text areas. That is, all of the words AND the exact phrase AND any of the words must occur in the returned records.

Note: You must enter something into at least one of the text areas.

All of the words

If this text area is used then the records returned will be those where all of the words occur somewhere in the record.

Exact phrase

If this text area is used then the records returned will be those which match the exact phrase somewhere in the record.

Any of the words

If this text area is used then the records returned will be those which match at least one or more of the words somewhere in the record.

Search and results page

When the button is selected the results page will show a list of ASDD nodes that have been searched and the results for each of those nodes. Nodes shown in red produced an error whereas the nodes shown in green were searched successfully. One can see the full metadata record by clicking on the hypertext link of one of the titles shown in the successfull nodes' results.
