Geoscience Australia (formerly AGSO) is Australia's national geological survey. It carries out geoscientific research to encourage increased investment in Australia's minerals and petroleum industries; and to improve resource management and environmental protection as well as work aimed at mitigating the effect of natural hazards such as landslides and earthquakes. Geoscience Australia also aims to reduce community vulnerability through improved management of natural hazards.
