July to September 2001

Introduction

At the end of September 2001, there were 22 nodes within the ASDD with a total of 31,373 dataset descriptions available for searching. Statistics are provided for the ASDD covering:

• web access statistics,
• gateway statistics,
• number of records at each node,
• reliability of nodes,

for the months of July, August and September 2001.

Nodes which have provided descriptions are also listed.

Achievements during past quarter

• The ASDD was officially handed over from the ERIN, Environment Australia site to the AUSLIG site.
• The "AGSO - Geoscience Australia" node came available via the ASDD gateway.
• The "Murray-Darling Basin Commission Documents" is offline while it is changing internet service providers.
• All nodes except "Australian Antarctic Data Centre" , "Bureau of Meteorology" and "NT Spatial Data Directory" upgraded to Isite version 2.07i. The "NT Spatial Data Directory" uses Metastar Software as it's server.

ASDD Basic Gateway

• Approximately 2483 searches were made through the ASDD basic gateway.
• Approximately 2179 single search terms were used.
• Approximately 304 multiple search terms were used.

ASDD Power Gateway

• Approximately 573 searches were made through the ASDD power gateway.
• Approximately 271 single search terms were used.

Node Records

The following table lists the nodes the DTD used, the number of records per node and the number of XML records that parsed that were accessible at 30 September 2001. "Not available" means that the server did not respond to the query at the time of investigation. "None" means that no DTD was provided in the XML records or no XML records were available.

Node Reliability

A summary of node reliability for the period July to September is given below:

Node managers are automatically notified by email if a server goes down for a period longer than four hours.
