ANZLIC Metadata Profile Related Information

Background

The ANZLIC Metadata Profile version 1.1 has been endorsed by the ANZLIC Council. A PDF version of this document is available at http://www.anzlic.org.au/metadata_project.html.

More information about the profile is available from the OSDM web site http://www.osdm.gov.au/policy/metadata.html including:

• ANZLIC Metadata Guidelines,
• XML tools to help validate ANZLIC Metadata Profile XML documents, and
• XML codeLists of the ANZLIC Geographic Extent Names and Search Words,

There are several files that are relevant to this profile. They are stored in this directory. They include:

1. XSLT to transform valid ANZLIC Version 2 XML into ANZLIC Metadata Profile XML
2. Codelists:
   • ISO TC 211 gmx code lists.
   • ANZLIC Geographic Extent Names
   • ANZLIC Search Words
   • Geoscience Australia's extension to the ISO TC 211 gmxCodeList for MD_ScopeCode.
3. An OASIS Catalog file that can be used to access local copies of the ISO 19139 XSDs
   • Note that you will need to edit the file locations to suit your own system.
4. XSD to validate XML document instances can be found at:

   • Geographic Spatial Schema
   • Geographic Temporal Schema
   • Geographic Spatial Referencing Schema
   • Geographic Common Schema
   • Geographic Metadata Schema
   • Geography Markup Language Schema

5. Schematron to further validate XML document instances:
   • Validates many of the ISO 19115 constraints/conditions
   • Validates codeList values against codeLists
   • Checks that there is content in the fileIdentifier
6. ANZLIC Metadata Profile XML examples:
   • shows most of the different metadata entities
   • Geoscience Australia's Open Day (series)
   • shows metadata for Geoscience Australias Open Day 2007 (collectionSession)
   • shows metadata for a camera (collectionHardware)
   • shows metadata for software
   • Note: There is no gaurantee that the content of these files is correct.
